Building a Community 'Experience:' Experience Mount Vernon as a Model of a Local Non-Profit

Lacey Filkins, Executive Director of Experience Mount Vernon, will discuss what it means to run a community-oriented non-profit organization. The talk is sponsored by the Generosity Project, Kenyon College. Lacey Filkins has served as executive director of Experience Mount Vernon since October 2022. She holds a Bachelor's in Public Relations from Baldwin Wallace University and a Master's in Higher Education Administration from the University of South Carolina.

Prior to her current role, Lacey built a career in higher education, focusing on sustainability initiatives at the University of South Carolina and overseeing First-Year Experience at Kenyon College.

Experience Mount Vernon is a non-profit organization dedicated to the enhancement, beautification and community development of downtown Mount Vernon. Their mission is to energize and strengthen an authentic and uniquely local downtown experience through community-wide events, small business support and development, beautification projects and strong community partnerships.
