KCCC Quarterly Newsletter

From the Superintendent’s Desk

As we begin another exciting school year at Knox County Career Center, we are grateful for the continued support of our community and business partners. Your partnership helps our students develop the skills, confidence, and experiences they need to succeed.

In this edition, we’re especially proud to highlight some of our alumni and the many ways they are putting their KCCC education to work. Their success is a wonderful reminder of what is possible when education, business, and community work together. We are also excited to celebrate our 4 the year of a Five-Star Report Card with the State of Ohio. Thank you for investing in our students and in the future of Knox County!

Kathy Greenich, Superintendent

Students First Day of School

KCCC welcomed back more than 700 students as the new school year got underway on August 18 and 19! Our new students kicked off the year with guided tours of the building, helping them get familiar with their new surroundings and feel right at home.

It’s great to have everyone back! Our classrooms and labs are filled with energy, excitement, and students doing what they love and preparing for their futures. We’re looking forward to a fantastic year at KCCC!

Staff First Day of School

Before welcoming students back to the Knox County Career Center, our staff spent August 13th, 14th, and 17th preparing, learning, collaborating, and getting ready for another exciting school year! From professional development to planning and teamwork, our staff worked hard to make sure everything was ready for our students. Now, the classrooms are buzzing, the halls are filled with energy, and we couldn’t be more excited to have our students back!

State Report Card

The Career Technical Planning District (CTPD) Report Cards for the 2025-2026 school year were released by the Ohio Department of Education & Workforce (ODEW).

Knox County Career Center (KCCC) CTPD received a 5-star rating, which means KCCC significantly exceeds the state standards. 100% (9 of 9) of the Federal Indicators were met. This is the fourth year in a row that the KCCC CTPD has received a 5 out of 5-star rating.

KCCC Alumni Spotlight: Jarrod & Jordyn Laslo

Two siblings. Two different career paths. One KCCC foundation. Jarrod and Jordyn Laslo are both KCCC alumni who are building successful careers in Knox County.

Jarrod graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 2017 and completed KCCC’s Computer Network Technology (CNT) program. Today, he is the IT Network Administrator for the Knox County Commissioner’s Office at the Knox County Service Center, where he oversees networking and security, including networks, VPNs, and public safety systems. Jarrod began his career as a Help Desk intern, advancing to Help Desk Lead before moving into his current role. He credits KCCC with teaching him lessons that continue to guide his work.

“I learned to trust your instincts—don’t be afraid to screw something up. The longer you work in this field, the more comfortable and confident you become. I also learned patience is your greatest tool for success.”

Jarrod also believes in helping others succeed by sharing knowledge and developing the skills of his team. He continues to give back to KCCC by speaking with current CNT students and serving on the CNT Advisory Board.

Jordyn graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 2021 and attended KCCC’s Health Technologies program. Although she chose not to pursue a career in healthcare, the skills she developed at KCCC have carried over into her current role as a Workforce Development Coordinator at Kokosing Construction in Fredericktown.

Jordyn recruits high school students for Kokosing’s internship programs, attends career fairs, supports former interns through the company’s Career Builder program, and helps with workforce planning and employee development.

“I was taught how to be a team player, to jump in when needed, and sometimes being a leader isn’t just leading a project but being a supporting team member,” said Laslo.

She also emphasized one lesson that has stayed with her: “Most importantly, I learned empathy for others and meeting them where they are.”

Jordyn encourages students who may not know exactly what career they want to pursue to consider KCCC.

“Even if you don’t know what you want to do, go to KCCC. You gain skills and an education that has followed me through my current position.”

The Laslos’ journeys are a great reminder that the skills students gain at KCCC can open doors to many different career paths—and those skills can continue to make a difference long after graduation.

Knox County Career Center Preschool

KCCC’s Preschool students are off to a sensational start! They kicked off the new school year by exploring the five senses through a variety of fun, hands-on activities.

With the help of our KCCC Preschool staff and Early Childhood Education students, our little learners had the opportunity to see, hear, smell, taste, and touch as they learned about the world around them.
