SUMMARY:National Drug Take Back Day
DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, April 24\, 2021\, Knox County will be participating in the National Drug Take Back Day. Knox Substance Abuse Action Team (KSAAT)\, in partnership with our local law enforcement agencies\, are pleased to sponsor this collection day for Knox County residents to dispose of their expired\, unused or unwanted prescription and over-the-counter medications safely. The disposal day will also include the collection of unwanted syringes. Drop-off locations in Knox County include: Knox Public Health\, Knox Community Hospital Medical Pavilion @Conway's Eastside Pharmacy\, Danville Police Department\, Centerburg Foster's Pharmacy and the Fredericktown Police Department.\n\nDrug Take Back Day is vital as many Americans are not aware that medicines left in one's home are highly susceptible to diversion\, misuse and abuse. Rates of prescription drug abuse in the U.S. are at alarming rates\, as are the number of accidental poisonings and overdoses due to these drugs. \n\nIf you are unable to make it out April 24th\, Knox County residents can request a free Deterra Drug Deactivation pouch from the Knox Public Health or the Fredericktown Police Department. These pouches allow for the safe destruction of medications\, liquids and patches at home.\n\nAdditionally\, there are several drop-boxes located in Knox County for year-round disposal. These locations include\; the Knox County Sheriff's Office\, the Fredericktown Police Department\, the Danville Police Department\, the Mount Vernon Police Department\, Rite-Aid-Mount Vernon and CVS-Mount Vernon. These drop-boxes are anonymous\; however\, please do not put liquids\, inhalers or illegals in the drop-boxes. \n\nWe look forward to YOUR HELP to make Knox County's Drug Take Back Day a success! We are all a part of the solution.\n\nTo learn more about KSAAT visit ksaat.org or to get involved\, email ksaat2011@gmail.com.
